A recent posting on the Westhampton Mass face book page:
"The Westhampton Fire Department and the town of Westhampton recently had their re-evaluation of their Insuracne Service Organization (ISO) ratings. The ratings are on a 1-10 scale with 1 being the best. The three main catagories examined are water supply, fire department equipment/vehicles/ & resources and Dispatch. Previously Westhampton had a rating of 8/9 out of 10. The new ratings as reflected in the ISO ratings now are 4/4Y out of 10. Based on documentation from ISO, this classification recognizes a superior level of fire protection and delivery system that has its greatest limiting factor being no credible water supply that is delivered via municipal hydrant system. These ISO ratings play an important role in the underwriting process at insurance companies. Most US insurers - including the largest ones - use this classification system as part of their decision making when deciding what business to write, coverage's to offer or prices to charge for personal or commercial property insurance. The Department has worked extremely hard over the years in upkeep and maintenance of all of our equipment, resources, record keeping/documentation, and training and this improvement in the town ISO rating reflects that initiative. Additionally, it helps to keep some of the insurance costs down as much as possible for our community. As an organization, we will continue to improve & provide the best possible administrative and operational services to our community and do our best to keep everyone safe. Thank you for all your continued support."
Comments from Larry Reber:
I would like to commend Westhampton Fire Department for thier hard work and dedication to the community. I know the hours and efforts it takes to accomplish this. I also know this "superior level of fire protection and delivery system" is doubly difficult to accomplish where there is "no credible water supply that is delivered via municipal hydrant system". I am honored to have a small part in this success with your purchase of a Firovac tanker in October 2016.
